Pace® Life Sciences, a biopharmaceutical services provider, has experienced significant growth through recent acquisitions of analytical labs, substantially increasing their testing capacity and scientific expertise. Looking ahead to 2025, Pace® is undertaking key expansions at their Salem, NH, site to include sterile fill-finish capabilities for clinical trial manufacturing and at their Oakdale, MN, facility to double their biopharmaceutical analytical services. With a growing network of locations across major US pharmaceutical hubs, Pace® aims to enhance customer experience through consistent quality and timely delivery. This discussion dives into aspects of parenteral formulations containing the biodegradable polymer, poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) “PLGA”. These aspects will provide an understanding of how to properly scale PLGA-based microparticles and in situ forming gel depots from lab to late-clinical phase. Directors and Senior Directors of GMP Manufacturing

graduated with his BS in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, where he primarily focused on inorganic/organic synthesis research. Following completion, he transitioned to the University of California, Davis, where he obtained his PhD in physical chemistry. His research was focused on drug delivery with industrial applications in long-acting injectables, like PLGA and dry-powder inhalables for pulmonary delivery. Immediately following completion of his PhD, he started working for Pace® Life Sciences, where he has continued to develop novel formulations and analytical methodologies for a wide range of applications.

Matt has a wife and three children. When he is not out with family, you can find him eagerly on the hunt to catch many different species of fish throughout California. Since moving to San Diego from Northern California, he loves the proximity to the ocean and the many varieties of Mexican and South American Cuisine.
