The device uses the air permeability technique to enhance the productivity and accuracy of particle sizing.
Micromeritics Instrument, a material characterization technology company based in Norcross, GA, announced the launch of the Sub-Sieve Autosizer II (SAS II), a device that enhances the productivity and accuracy of particle sizing via the air permeability technique, on Dec. 3, 2019.
According to a company press release, the autosizer comes equipped with fully automated measurement sequences which include computer-controlled sample compaction and pressure stability for high repeatability. Reports are generated automatically and can be customized to meet company requirements as security features lock down measurement methods and configuration parameters from unofficial changes.
The device handles particle size measurements from 0.2 µm to 75 µm by using the non-destructive air permeability technique to measure the pressure drop across a packed bed of sample at a defined air flow rate, accurately measuring finer powders, according to the release. Additionally, the autosizer functions with specific ASTM standards including E2980, E2651, B330-12, and B330-15 for metal powders and C721-15 for alumina and silica powders.
